About Me

Hi, I’m Melanie Rose.

This Is My Story

Melanie Rose Rothman skincare blog roses4melanie about me5 years ago, I started getting huge, painful zits. They took forever to go away (I'm talking months), and when they'd finally kick the can, they'd leave behind dark spots of hyperpigmentation, which then stuck around for another 6 months - 1 year. As time went on, I built up quite the collection of zits and marks, and I became increasingly self conscious and embarrassed.

Growing up, my skin was relatively fine? I remember getting small zits here and there, but going through that awkward stage in life when you hear you're supposed to break out, I was pretty much unscathed. So you can imagine my surprise when, at age 23, it started. And it was bad.

I tried everything under the sun to stop these cysts from popping up. And I mean everything. Scrubs. Cleansers. Creams. Gels. Acids. You name it. I tried it. But my skin continued to get worse -- and looking back, the constant introduction of new products and ingredients definitely wasn't helping.

I then decided to visit a dermatologist. Which is the NUMBER 1 thing I would recommend doing if you're suffering like I was. My dermatologist prescribed two topical creams, EpiDuo and Onexton. They wreaked havoc on my skin for months. But then, magically, things started looking up. And as my skin started to improve, I searched around for specific products to aid in what these bad boys were getting done. Specifically, products to get rid of dark spots and acne scars, products to stop a pimple from forming the minute it starts peeking out from under the skin, products to gently cleanse, moisturize, exfoliate, etc.

Here we are 5 years later, and my skin is breakout free! Okay, yeah, I still get the occasional zit -- EVERYONE does, but for the most part, my face is a no-pimple-zone. My skin truly glows, and I'm happily living my life, instead of hiding under the covers frantically googling "how to get rid of acne FAST." I've tried a lot of products over the years. A lot. But I have found products that have truly changed my skin, and I want to share them with the world!

I've also recently started writing about my fave makeup and hair products, too. Because whenever I had a bad skin day, I'd turn my attention elsewhere to get that "I feel cute-and-badass-at-the-same-time and I'm-ready-to-take-on-the-world" kind of feeling. Which we should all feel. All the time.

xo,
Melanie Rose
